Your Culpeper Orthodontist
Dr. Alfred Griffin has served Northern Virginia for 35 years and still finds time to teach biomechanics and clinical practice at Harvard University's School of Dental Medicine.
Outside the office, he enjoys working out, equestrian sports, golf and tennis. He also finds time to serve as the Co-Chair and Director of Racing for the Virginia Gold Cup Races.
In addition to working at the clinic on a regular basis, Dr. Griffin also sees FFC patients in his private office, where he and the G&E team create dentures for those in need.
Each of Dr. Griffin's team members enjoys participating in this type of community service and considers this a rewarding part of their day.
Dr. Joseph Errera is a native Virginian and has been practicing orthodontics since 2004 when he joined Dr. Griffin.
Called "Dr. Joe" by his patients, he loves traveling to new places, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Cristina, and daughter, Giovanna. Dr. Joe's favorite activity is firing up the BBQ on a cool summer evening.
Truly a kid at heart, he relates exceptionally well to patients of all ages. Dr. Joe is able to make patients feel comfortable and relaxed, and he prides himself on creating a fun and inviting atmosphere in the G&E offices.
He loves listening to popular music and is even known to sing along when a favorite tune comes on the radio.
Culpeper Braces
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. They're made out of metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. These brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the positions we want them to be in if you have regular adjustments with our doctors.
Culpeper braces are an excellent choice for correcting complex tooth issues. Because they can sometimes work faster at aligning teeth and closing gaps than other treatments might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Braces don't need some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making Culpeper braces a cost-effective orthodontic option.
Culpeper Invisalign
Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, Culpeper Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. In order to keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you'll generally need to switch your invisible trays out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option. A free consultation with Griffin & Errera Orthodontics will allow us to determine your Invisalign eligibility.
