These orthodontic workhorses have a long history of successfully straightening smiles at every age for patients all around Middleburg, Warrenton, and Culpeper.

All About Braces

Dr. Griffin and Dr. Errera can use metal braces to correct any orthodontic issue you might have. Whether you’ve got a few crooked teeth or a severe issue, this sturdy and strong system of brackets and wires can give you the perfect smile you’ve been dreaming of.

Modern Design

Traditional braces have long been called bulky and obvious—but this reputation couldn’t be further from the truth.

With the modern advancements in technology, metal braces from Griffin & Errera Orthodontics have never been smaller, more discrete, or more comfortable than they are now, so you’ll be smiling everywhere you go.

We use state-of-the-art equipment that you won't see in most orthodontic offices to map your teeth, mouth, and jaws. Digital mapping enables us to build molds and specific appliances that are perfectly suited to you, and, in most cases, we can avoid messy impressions.

The Griffin & Errera Orthodontic Process

When you choose metal braces, the team at Griffin & Errera Orthodontics will collect photos and X-rays of your mouth. Sometimes we’ll use our iTero Element scanner to scan each of your teeth along with the layout of your gums and mouth.

Next, Dr. Griffin or Dr. Errera will use this information to create your customized treatment plan. This will include how each tooth needs to be moved to get it in the best possible position.

Your orthodontist will decide how to place the brackets based on this information. Once we attach your brackets, Dr. Griffin or Dr. Errera will determine which wire is most appropriate for your treatment.

Bends in the wire will provide different types of pressure on different teeth.

How They Work

Metal braces are made of several parts that work together to straighten your teeth: brackets, wires, and elastics. Each set of metal braces is utilized for your smile so that your treatment plan meets your unique needs.

The brackets Dr. Griffin and Dr. Errera use are made from an injection molded stainless steel, creating a comfortable and precise bracket.

The connective wire is a thin string of metal that runs from one bracket to the next. Our Griffin & Errera Orthodontics team will shape each wire to fit your unique smile.

Once we fit the wire into the brackets, we’ll cap it all off with a tiny elastic band that holds the wire in place. You can even customize these bands to give your braces a stand-out look!

What To Expect From Treatment

Like with any orthodontic treatment plan, metal braces come with a learning curve. You’ll need to revamp your oral hygiene routine, avoid eating certain foods and meet regularly with Dr. Griffin or Dr. Errera in Middleburg, Warrenton, or Culpeper.

Depending on your needs, you can expect to wear your braces for anywhere from 12-36 months. Some lucky patients finish treatment after only six months! On the other hand, patients with more severe dental issues can wear braces for over three years.

You’ll meet with our team every six to ten weeks to ensure your smile is on track for success.

Use your home care kit to clean around and between your brackets to avoid plaque buildup foods like gum or taffy.

The better you care for your braces while they’re on, the better your smile will look when they come off!
