Your First Visit With Griffin & Errera Orthodontics

At Griffin & Errera Orthodontics, patients have been our #1 priority for 35 years. With over 50 years of combined practice, Drs. Griffin and Errera have the skills and experience necessary to tackle every orthodontic challenge. That includes the concerns you have about your teeth!

Our expert team is excited to help you achieve a beautifully aligned smile, and that begins with a complimentary consultation in our Middleburg, Warrenton, or Culpeper office.

If you aren’t sure what to expect from this appointment, you may be feeling a little nervous. This is completely normal! However, we’re here to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible, from start to finish. With that in mind, let’s explore what your first visit with us will look like!

Your orthodontic evaluation, step by step

When you arrive at your chosen location, you’ll be welcomed by our front desk team and given a brief office tour to help you feel more comfortable with your surroundings. We’ll then take some digital photographs of your mouth. We may do a series of X-rays at this time as well. This information gives us a better idea of what’s happening beneath the surface of your smile! We’ll learn more about your erupted and unerupted teeth, as well as your facial features and jaw relationship. Once we’ve collected all the images we need, it’s time to meet your doctor!

Dr. Griffin and Dr. Errera are experienced orthodontic specialists with many years of education and training in diagnosing and correcting misaligned bites. After you say hello to your doctor, he will perform a brief but thorough oral examination. You may also be asked some questions about the concerns you have with your oral health. This information is used to make an initial diagnosis and create a customized treatment plan for you.

We won’t ever rush any of your visits with us, especially this first one. We want to be sure you understand each aspect of your diagnosis and recommended treatment plan. Your initial consultation will last about an hour, giving us plenty of time to perform your oral exam, go over your diagnosis, and answer any questions you may have. We’ll also cover several important topics during this time, including:

  • if treatment is needed immediately or if waiting is recommended
  • the treatment options we offer
  • an estimate of how long we expect treatment to take
  • the total investment required for your new smile
  • any payment, financing, and insurance options available to you

No two smiles are alike, and that’s why you won’t find any cookie-cutter treatment at Griffin & Errera Orthodontics! Every treatment plan is created with the patient’s specific needs, lifestyle, and goals in mind. We find that this personalized approach leads to a more rewarding smile journey with long-lasting results you’ll love!

Your investment in a healthier smile

Once you’ve decided on a treatment plan with your doctor, we’ll go over the investment needed for your new smile. Because no two cases are alike, there’s no “one size fits all” treatment fee. The total cost of your treatment will be based on several factors, including the difficulty of your case, the expected treatment time, and the orthodontic appliances required. You can trust that our team will always be transparent about what’s included in your treatment plan. You won’t ever be surprised by hidden fees here!

We believe everyone should have access to the treatment they need for a healthier smile. Our treatment coordinator will present you with the total treatment fee and outline the payment and financing options available to you. We’ve designed these to help you achieve the confident smile you deserve without breaking the bank! If you have insurance that will be covering any portion of your orthodontic treatment, we’re happy to help you with insurance claims, questions, and paperwork.

What comes next?

Once your consultation with us is complete, you’re one step closer to the smile you’ve always wanted! We’ll schedule an appointment for you to have your new orthodontic appliance placed, which will usually take about an hour. During this time, our team will be available to make sure you’re comfortable, answer any questions you have, and walk you through caring for your teeth and appliance during treatment.

Depending on your treatment plan, we’ll want to see you for follow-up visits every 8-10 weeks or so. During these appointments, our doctors will assess your progress and make sure things are proceeding as they should be. If you’re wearing braces, we’ll make any necessary adjustments at this time. Your orthodontist may choose to change the wire out as well.

These visits are an essential part of every treatment plan. We do our best to schedule them for a day and time convenient for you, but we know that things can come up unexpectedly. If you can’t make your appointment or will be running late for any reason, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can get you rescheduled. This allows our office to continue running smoothly and helps to keep your treatment plan on track, too!
